“OUR LOOK INTO THE FUTURE MUST BE
ONE OF FAITH AND HOPE”

Who can believe that we find ourselves with the first quarter of 2012 winding up with so many things left undone which were planned for this New Year? Where has our time gone as everything around us seems to be in the express lane with not much room for error or corrections to be made. It is of extreme importance to all of us that we carefully survey the past as we plan for and look into the future, especially with the Church. The Church of God resembles our government here in the United States in so many ways. Please allow me to explain. The United States is searching for answers both economically and physically and the search is almost always internally. Many feel if we can get rid of the party in office and replace all of them with new brilliant leadership our problems will be solved. Many feel this way regarding The Church of God but it is a false hope also. These folks fail to look at the real problem facing us in the area of morals and spiritual help and intervention. The Bible tells us, Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. Psalms 33:12 (KJV) Sin is the real problem facing America and the real problems facing the Church. We read also, If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV)

This will work for The Church as well as it will work for a nation. It is time to call upon the Lord for divine intervention in both our government and The Church of God because in both we are, in many cases looking to men to fix our problems and in both cases they are beyond the comprehension of man and the power of man. As you look back on 2011, ask yourself this question, were we able to fix anything that is wrong with our national government or with God’s Government? Of course the real answer is NO.

Let us begin now to fast, pray and trust God to intervene in both, for our good as it is evident we can do nothing about either in the flesh of man. You can trust this, Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5:16 (KJV)

When a nation is in trouble they look for leadership to bail them out and strong leaders are needful for this to happen but they need to be leaders who lean on the Lord for understanding and guidance. When the Church has come under divisive acts of men, the Church has looked to the arm of flesh to bail them out but it will not happen. Only the Love of God will help the Church in these perilous times and only His power will pull us through as our world and church fall apart before our very eyes. Keep this in mind, the world will be destroyed, but The Church of God will not be! And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Matthew 16:18 (KJV)
